It's winter here in New England and I have a newer house that's pretty air tight. I've been having a hard time getting my tanks over 8 pH and I don't want to keep adding buffer.

The other evening, one got down to 7.8, the other 7.85. I opened a couple windows and I was amazed how fast the PH came up. It took about 2.5 hours to get them both over 8.

Is this OK? Does this affect kH at all? All the corals and fish were unaffected.

Can you run an airline to get outside air for your skimmer?

Raising PH by opening a window should not affect your kH. The rise in PH may cause the animals(corals) to consume more kH, but that should only be minor.

I ran an airline hose to get fresh outside air to help keep my ph higher at night, but I understand what you mean.

Raising it by getting fresh air shouldn't affect kh like @gojk said
