hello again reef2reef , I'm just curious if raising the salinity level from 30 to 33 ppt also raises the alkalinity?

Probably, smarter people will have a better answer than me, but...

Assuming a non-living environment that doesn't deplete any levels (such as a mixing container) and assuming you are using the same salt mix, I'd expect adding more salt to the water to proportionately raise the levels of all elements in the water, including alk.

Ok Im gonna stop being lazy and test the darn thing lol

Yes. If it is 8 dKH and you use 8 dKH seawater to raise the salinity, it becomes 8 x 33/30 = 8.8 dKH.

Of course, if you use new 12 dKH seawater, it rises more, to 9.2 dKH.

Hey Randy , just tested it it was at 8.9dkh but my alk drops every day so it was probably higher yesterday anyways I feel better now knowing the level. I dose for alkalinity every day with that soda ash recipe I found online and have been seeing results since I've started to. Just got a little nervous when I tweaked my salinity over the past couple days but everything seems a.o.k. Actually my alkalinity is a bit lower than I like to keep it lol.
