Hey guys,

I have my brs mini reactor installed. There is this low mechanical hum in the sump. Not too bothersome but it’s audible. I’m wondering if switching to soft tubing will help with the noise? When I hold the rigid tubing, the noise dampens a little cause I’m absorbing all the vibration so that’s why maybe soft tubing made sense to me. FWIW, I have the exact same Sicce pump in my nuvo 20 and it’s silent with soft tubing.

Its possible, but I doubt that’s the issue. I would recommend you put a silicon mat between the two pumps and against the wall though.
Using a valve to reduce flow will cause humming as well. Not sure what size pump you are using, but I’d recommend sticking with the 0.5 model (185gph).

It absolutely can. Check out the silicon hose kit.

If you want to test it, turn stuff off and see if the sound goes away.

My rigid and pvc causes much more humming than my tubing with pumps. Sometimes it is the pumps, but some of it the piping. If it hits/touches anything, the vibration can be annoying.

I find that most of the time the humming is due to the AC pump. If I switch out to a small DC pump, noise is virtually gone.
