Does the ai prime require wifi?

I got an ai prime in the mail today and I havent gotten to opening it yet cause I'm at work. But does it require wifi to be set up or just a smartphone? I dont have wifi cause I just moved and wont have it for a few weeks.

You can operate the lights via local without internet. However, if you want to control your lights away from home you need wi-fi
