I found someone who is local that is selling someone corals. I was interested in two of them. I just would like someones opinion because one of them looks off like its not doing so hot. So I wanted someones opinion.
The first one he/she said it was a scramble egg zoa. (Listed as #4) (This one looks off to me)
The second is a undata montipora. (Listed as #8)
Please let me know what you think.

They all look fine. If you are concerned about the shape of the first Zoanthid, it's not an issue. The seller probably fragged it out of a colony. They can get a bit out of round when in dense groups. The frag tank itself looks clean and well maintained, and the Zoas look bright and fully open...

And thats good to know. The shape of the first one was throwing me off. So I wanted to be sure. Thank you.

Anything that looks like those, colors aside, are zoanthids "zoas" or palythoas "palys". I dont believe you and the vendor were talking about the same coral for the 2nd pic.

How much did they end up charging you? Good coloration on those zoas. The second one is def not a monti so if you paid for a monti you might want to yell at your lfs.

I've had a zoa/paly dominated tank for yeeeears. My advice to you, from the hundreds upon hundreds of dollar losses I've had, is not to buy any zoa/paly that's been fragged down to 1-3 polyps.

My more successful grow outs have all come from buying a frag plug where its loaded with 10+ polyps.

The chances of a single head turning into 20, 30, 40 heads in a year is about a 10% chance IMO.

I always save my money and buy a frag plug that's overflowing with polyps.

Sellers that sell zoas/palys with just a couple of heads are honestly (IMO) pretty much out to make their grow outs a highly profitable money making biz.

Unless conditions are 90% perfect with water quality and lighting... a 1-2 head frag will probably either melt away or just stay a 2 head frag for many months.

Oh good to know. I am probably going to pass on the coral with on head. But the second picture I am going to buy and another one I posted in another comment. Not sure of the name

Agree to disagree with statement of 1-3 polyps is a bad investment especially at 10 dollars a frag. Will you get 20-30 polyps in a year? Most likely not but it all depends on the polyp. I have some nirvanas that grow like weeds and there are others that grow well. Parameters and nutrients play a key role obviously

The first isn't scrambled eggs (scrambled eggs are yellow). The 2nd isn't a monti at all. I agree with the comment that you and the vendor may be discussing different corals there.

Hard to see with that reflection. Might be a JF lethal leptoseris.

Brand name matter much less as long as you have the correct coral type. Zoas and a lepto are your IDs so far. If you want trade names, I'd suggest posting the zoa pics in a new thread in the Zoa forum. Plenty of zoanthid ID experts there to help.

Both corals ate zoos the 3rd pic is a jack o lantern lepto it's just the blues are turned way up . Tell us what you are using for a light .
