Hope the picture is good enough sorry if it isn't. My question is does the bottom head on this hammer need to be cut off due to being out competed for light? I noticed it's not extending like the other heads and is shades. I don't want to separate the colony but do I need to for it's survival? If so how long do I got?

No the coral will adapt. The head will stretch when it wants light, I'd just leave it alone.
Ok so good to here. I figured cause In the wild nobody is helping them out but was told different. Thank you! Gonna let it grow into a beautiful huge colony.

Often times the head being shaded will die. It's 50/50 whether the head will stretch out depending on the position of your coral.
