I'm half way though making the water to fill my first ever marine tank and the colour of the resin has changed, the tds has only gone up to 1 but do I need to change the resin?

Agreed. Depending on your water as well and how hard your RO filter takes a hit but I filled my 265 on 1 DI resin cartridge.

yes, but you also may need to have a multi-stage RO unit (cant tell by the picture) but you should change it out before it gets that discolored

It was a 4 stage I got an upgrade and made into a 5 stage but I've only made about 140l so far and thought the resin would last longer than that

You would normally want to add a full sized 11" canister for an additional stage, and yes, then you would be able to make a lot more water before having to refill.

what does your water read before the RO filters?
also i have a regular filter before the resin filters

@Sarah1990 … Did u check with your water company to find out how your water is treated, i.e., chlorine, chloramines? Also, what was the TDS of your water before filtering?

Can you post a picture of how you have it set up? The whole unit? Is the DI chamber the last chamber coming out of the unit?
It's from VYAIR. The water goes into the 3rd chamber then through the first then through the second and then through the last and then the waste tube is connected to another RO chamber. I'm a complete
novice and the way it's set up with all the crossover is very confusing. I've changed the resin now.

Where I live the city water is 3 tds. Output of my rodi is always 0 tds but if the resin is exhausted I will get hair algae.
If in doubt - change it.

If your incoming TDS is only 3, why the RO stage? seems like a huge waste of water to me..

Hope this works for you. GL It's one reason, as a novice, that I bought mine from BRS.

Interesting comment. Yes I've considered that and may change my setup in the future. Would like to hear any other input.
