So I just get rid of it, don’t have anywhere to put it and it’s annoyingI know I’ve seen one like this before on here. I don’t remember the exact species, but remember it not being a pairing species.
It’s best to get a tiger or a Randall’s for that purpose.
I caught it in my tank, it came in with some rocksNo way to return it back to where you caught it?
Got it - I misread it as you caught it at the beach.I caught it in my tank, it came in with some rocks
Just caught the mantis in a rock and I’m currently trying to get him outGot it - I misread it as you caught it at the beach.
You can keep it (I’d be more worried about a mantis becoming a problem), small fish and inverts could be at risk. See if you can get it its own tank.
This is an atlantic Pistol shrimp and Not a Mantis. They come as a hitchhiker and are called Green Banded Snapping Shrimp and are the least likely to pair with gobies. They are good scavengersI caught it in my tank, it came in with some rocks
Small fish and coral are NOT at risk and maybe if we knew the shrimp- proper info would be given to youJust caught the mantis in a rock and I’m currently trying to get him out
He’s deep in a rock and is very tiny like half an inch so it’s hard to get a picture of. He’s definitely the smasher kind because he punched a stick that I was trying to get him out withSmall fish and coral are NOT at risk and maybe if we knew the shrimp- proper info would be given to you
Yep - thats what a pistol does. Some call them 22 caliber shrimp. . . LOLHe’s deep in a rock and is very tiny like half an inch so it’s hard to get a picture of. He’s definitely the smasher kind because he punched a stick that I was trying to get him out with
I’m talking about the mantis that’s in a rock, I already got the pistol shrimp out but I’m trying to take out this mantis shrimp, this is what he looks like.Yep - thats what a pistol does. Some call them 22 caliber shrimp. . . LOL
They dig deep pockets and are often hard to catch. If you want to keep it, be sure to do regular water changes as they require minor trace elements and iodine for their shell health. If you want it out, you can use a soda bottle baited with small piece of shrimp and trap it
