I just set up a 40G breeder on its stand, and even though it was level when i tested it with a level, i filled it up with water, and it appears the left hand side is slightly lower than the right hand side. Is the difference, seen in the picture, justify re-starting the tank, or is this something that will fix itself over time?

Thanks for your help!

That definitely won’t correct itself over time. I would say either you have a cheap level and your stand/tank was never truly leveled. Or your stand wasn’t made for the tank and something shifted. I’m not 100% certain on my hypothesis but I know for a fact it won’t correcr itsef

Not guaranteeing anything, but I have never fussed with tanks 75 gallons and smaller if "slightly" off left to right. I've literally had tanks running upwards of ten years like that without ever having had an issue.

The two following scenarios generally get me to redo:

1- I can't fill the tank up high enough to hide the slightly tilted waterline (for aesthetic reasons only)
2- The tank is off level and leaning "forward". Not sure if even this is necessary, but a tank leaning away from the wall makes me nervous....

it'll prob settle in the same position its in...Ur floor might not b lvl?! idk... they have shims at home depot or lowes. u just tap em in and snap off the excess. I prob wouldn't sweat it.

Been dealing with the annoying factor of it for a few days, and am thinking the same thing, but as long as it is only an aesthetic issue, I will not worry about it too much from the get go, as I plan to upgrade the stand over time, and will likely be out of my current apartment in about a year.

Thanks for the advice!

I would empty the tank halfway or w/e you can get away with, and then re-level the stand with shims.

I'd level it properly. It will cost you about $2 and take all of 10 minutes. Why worry when that small amount of effort fixes it for you?

+1 to ok me a while to catch that

I would level it. Only reason I can think is your waterline is higher to compensate for left side. It may be more prone to overflowing/splashing depending on how high you have it and what you are doing , like putting hands in for some reason.
