Yes they can. However cleaning the glass is normal maintenance.

Am not trying to get away from the m usual maintenance, since I’ve started using fertiliser in my tank the algae in my glass been blooming and using nutrients that were ment for my macros. I was wondering if people that use UV were successful in keeping the micro algae’s in the glass in check with uv only

It will help I'm sure. It will reduce the spores in the water column. Something macro doesn't have to worry about.

Reduce yes but not eliminate, I think also the more nutrients the more algae will grow.
