My current heater is not able to get my water above 72dg. Will this prolong my tanks cycle? gonna be picking up a new one soon.

+1
the bacteria we are wanting to grow can withstand a good fluctuation of temp....

Remember the lifespan of these beneficial bacteria are a few weeks so as the new generations grow they are more suited for the current temp in a closed environment.

IME, between 70-85f is what you are looking for.

There is a big difference between a coldwater tank, and a reef tank :)

if i had a chiller i would make it cold water as i live next to the Puget sound and every thing would be free lol

Thanx. Guys I picked up another heater and currently @77dg and slowly climbing.

update : keeping it at 80dg and cycle has started. can u say ammonia spike....
