I have an apex gold, I have noticed that when my eletricity goes out, it only tells me in my email, and cell phone when the eletricity comes back. Not sure why, but if this is normal, what is the point to have a controller that tell you that the power goes out only when the power goes back!
Can I fix this in the settings? Is that a way to prevent this to happen? Thank you.

I have the same issue. The should have a alert automatically generate the Apex loses touch

Umm, without a battery back up, how can it send you an alert if the power is out?

If you have a battery backup and both the Apex and router are connected to it, then it can send you the alert. I believe that the optional 12v Apex power supply needs to be connected to the backup.

Dont you think this is stupid? Apex should send you a message as soon as the power goes out, and not when it comes back. If the power goes out for a couple hrs wile Im at work I will loose most of livestock if not everything.

Because when the power goes out, it automatically disconnects to the Internet. As soon as that happens, Fusion should be able to send an alert that internet connection is lost. I believe the Vertex does this

In one of his latest videos on the new apex, Terrence said that a "power is out" alert is coming with the next iteration of Fusion without the need for a battery backup

Its more of a "your apex hasn't communicated with the cloud for X number of minutes" alert

It could be that the power went out or your cat chewed through the Ethernet cable connected to your apex or any number of other possibilities.

HOW? whats the point of a controller to tell you that is a power loss when it comes back? So lets say you go to work from 8am to 5pm, power goes out at around noon, at a winter time. Apex send me a message at 4pm saying it was a power failure. What do you think its gonna happen? I know what is gonna happen. I just lost thousands of money. Unless I have a good battery back up to run my 120g. I only have a battery back up for one power head. I work 40min from my house. If the apex advises me as soon as the power goes, I could go home in time before I loose everything.

It is possible. If fusion periodically asks your apex to see if it is still can communicate with it hence the Internet connection is good. However that is not how Fusion is working now. It is just pulling the data from the Apex when you look at the page..... why not? The feature will require a lot more horse power on fusion servers.....
I am sure fusion will have this feature as Terence has said that on the brs video. Moreover, the new Vertex controller is coming with this feature forcing Neptune to provide that. When they compete we benefit ;-)

He asked "How", not "how come" which implies "why" that I think you misunderstood him for :-)
And I totally agree with you. It is possible right now with reefTronic.net btw

I was thinking on switching to the new version, and sell this one to my brother, but if any other controller do this I will go for it. This should be a priority in all controllers.

Pinging the apex would indicate if power or internet connection for the device is lost. A program polling the device would be pretty simple to implicate

How does it differentiate between a loss of power and loss of internet connection?
