So I have this thing where my sps grow one or two branches at a time. This is true for the majority of my frags and even colonies. My sapphire milli absolutely refuses to grow more than one branch and keeps growing the branch until it's sufficiently fat / long, then sprouts another.

My red planet / lemonade colonies do the same but w two or so white growth tips while 20-30 remain stangnant.

Is this normal ?

I tend to see this on some of my Acropora. Certain areas have growth spurts while others do nothing.

I've noticed if I cut about 1/4 inch off any tip, multiple new axial tips begin to grow. I had a Paletta Pink Tip that would grow one or two branches at a time, then I cut about 5 branches, and growth and branches absolutely took off after that.
