Does Your Water Smell Funny When You Mix It?

I've noticed that when I mix up new water for a water change that it smells funny - a little foul. I use RO/DI water and Salinity salt. The smell dissipates pretty quickly and all parameters are good, just wondering if this is something of concern. Anyone else experience this?

No smell either. I have always used reef crystals.

I'll be curious to see if others have noticed this too. This is the first brand of salt that I've ever had this experience with.

I have had the same issue with my last couple of batches of salt I mixed with IO. I believe it is the brute container and have cleaned it thoroughly but the smell persist. I have used the same brute container all year and it just started smelling so now I am just making small batches in 5 gallon white buckets till the weather improves.

Interesting. It never occurred to me that it might be the bucket. Hmmm...

Does the RO/DI water smell before you mix it with the salt mix? My RO/DI water smells like DI resin when I first make it. I haven't noticed any bad side effects from it.

I'll double check, but I don't recall that it does.
