So I wasn't able to find my carpet anemone all day, I thought he might of somehow gotten into my overflow because he has been hanging around it, but it has a lid etc so I didn't follow up on my hunch to severely. Well I'm playing cod when I here a buzzing and splashing sound. The water was flowing over the top of a small drilled out section of the back of my tank...an spilling onto all of the electronics on the back of the stand. Now I think I fried my apex and two energy bar 8. Plus there is about ten gallons of water getting under my hardwood floors stretching from the tank to the laundry room and my office. Then im sittin there trying to figure out what happens and low and behold its my carpet anemone stuck to the drain inside my over flow. I have no clue how he got in there, but it has to come out so I had to manually remove it by sticking my fingers under it and slowly prying it off (this was a major PIA especially with those clumsy rubber gloves so I don't get stung and my large hands working in that tight space). It has not moved from where I put it in the tank so it might have gotten damaged also. Gonna keep an eye on it tomorrow. So to sum it up

Tank overflowed several gallons of water onto my hardwood floors

Water got in all rear mounted electronic, including apex, two eb8, and a separate powerstrip.

Might have killed an awesome anemone.

Who knows what else.

To make things even worse I found out my wife cleaned the oven with my anemone handling gloves, so they might of had chemicals on them and they were all inside the tank. She said she rinsed them but I am still doing a massive water change and will be changing out my carbon this evening.

The anemone itself looks open but has not moved from where I placed it last night.

I hate hearing these kind of stories. Especially if you lost your controller. That's not cheap to replace.

I got a call on Friday afternoon while I was at work from my wife saying my tank was over flowing. I told her how to unplug the return pump and left work immediately. It ended up being around 4 gallons on the carpet. And all my kalk saturated ATO water was in the tank too. I have no idea how high my ph spiked, but nothing is showing any signs of it. I got lucky.

My tank is not drilled and that is the main problem. My overflow box has a small nipple for an aqualifter pump to keep siphon, and everyonce in a while just enough coraline or whatever clogs it and causes the tank to start to fill higher. I have caught this in the past with no issues, but this time I didnt. I cleaned the entire overflow box, and anxiously awaiting my drilled 120 upgrade in 10 weeks.

this is why I am resisting the urge to add a nem into the tank no matter how much I love them.

Good luck and hope everything will turn out ok eventually.

i sprayed my rke during a water change last month, you sould open it up, warranty void anyway, get your self a can of crc qd electronic cleaner and a soft bristle tooth brush and lightly scrub down all of the connections and boards. i was able to save 4 pc4s,and my sw5. only had to replace my ph module. dont wait to long though.

That sucks my overflow box got fouled up one day and my tank almost over flowed but I got to it in time I feel for you

Ouch! What a crazy chain reaction of events. Best of luck!

Oh no! I hope everything will be okay. I overflowed my RO/DI unit a couple weeks ago on my hardwood floor in my kitchen. It needs to be sanded down and refinished now...... I do have an overflow thingy for it but, don't know how to install it....eeeekkkk
At least you know your oven is clean....:squigglemouth:

Well the anemone seems fine, it has started moving today. I am going to diagnose the apex this weekend, but I think the eb8s are toast. My protein skimmer has flooded twice and I am having a slight cyano outbreak on the sandbed, oven cleaner must be high in phosphates.

Green star polyps look healthier than ever

Ouch! I once lived above a shoe store, and their office was directly below my living room where my reef tank was. Back then I was a rookie and I was using a canister filter, I didnt have the proper elbows to hold the intake and outake hoses but I rigged something up that worked really well...until one morning I was awoken by the sound of alot of water rushing I look into my living room and the output hose had worked its way onto the floor, and 40-50gallons were already on the floor. I ruined a couple computers, and alot of billings reciepts and such, along with some other stuff but somehow none of my livestock died. I had to tear down the tank until I moved(which was only a month away) kept the corals at a friends house, and used a 55g tote with heater and powerhead to keep my live rock. Needless to say, I dont use canister filters anymore for more than just that reason and I dont live above anyone anymore just in case. Hopefully all ends well here for you =)

So you thinking you nem in the box caused all the other things in a chain?? The only nems I have are tiny ones in the claws of my tiny pom pom crab.

Im on xbox as well, mostly play search and destroy my gamer tag is
