Who has had a Dog Face Puffer or a Trigger fish (huma / huma) cohabitat with soft corals? I have xenia / mushrooms / leathers can they live with dog face puffer or a huma huma trigger fish?

I know they say not reef compatible... but these are kinda noxious corals?

thanks!!

What size tank do you have? I had a dogface who would pick at coral.

I am upgrading my 75 gallon reef to a 180 FOWLR + soft corals?? i am in love w/ the Dog Face Puffer and the huma huma trigger fish...

A 75 is much too small for either of those fish. I am a firm opponent of “buy fish now, I will upgrade later” because 99% of the time, the upgrade doesn’t happen. You should wait until you get the bigger tank, and even then, I still wouldn’t keep a dogface in a 180 long term. I suggest 250+ for large puffers.
The trigger will definitely eat the coral, and the puffer will most likely pick at it.
When are you getting the bigger tank? And do you have money saved up for the bigger tank? A 180, even a soft coral only tank with fish, is by no means cheap, expect to drop 2k minimum and for nicer equipment, 5-10k.
I would wait until the bigger tank for either of those fish.

yes we are in agreement. I am looking at 180 systems right now. Lifetime aquarium stand canopy or a reefer deluxe 750 xxl. I will not buy DFP or Trigger until my new tank is running.... The reason I ask is b/c as I purchase my tank depending on my fish selection I might need more expensive lighting for a reef system or not.

I know DFP and Trigger (huma huma) will bother coral but will they bother soft coral also? Mushrooms / xenia / leathers? I know they will eat more delicate LPS and SPS corals.

thoughts?

Yes, they will pick on soft corals.
If you want a reef system, do not add either of these fish into your tank, they are not reef safe. So I would either scrap the idea for these fish, or go with a fish only tank.
