Hi guys! Anyone on here have a dog face puffer? What else do you have with it? Can they live in pairs or better to have one?

I would not suggest keeping more than one puffer in a tank. @evolved and [HASHTAG]#eatbreakfast[/HASHTAG] can shed some more light on this.

Ive had a dog face, stars and stripes and a golden puffer. They were together for years no problems. I may have been lucky tho

I've done it at the store as well, and sometimes they do fine, but other times they go after each other. Of course we only keep them for a short time. This is why I tagged the fishy experts.... they can give us the skinny on it.

Sometimes you can mix puffers, sometimes you can't. It's usually on a case-by-case basis. One of the most important things to know about them is they all have "beaks" instead of teeth, and these need to be worn down by feeding snails, clams/mussels still inside the shell and hard shelled shrimp.

Well with that said it's enough info to make me not even aren't it, we get all bent out of shape just seeing a new tang get picked on when added, I'd hate to helplessly watch as one press break size hole in the other, thanks for the input everyone

I've kept dogface with other puffers several times without issue. Not sure I would risk two of the same species and try to pair them however
