Dog Hair In Tank

Not sure if this has been asked before but I have a GSD and two Chihuahuas and I am finding it hard to keep their hairs out of my tank..I have ordered a Kraken lid and waiting on its arrival but not sure what else to try to keep hairs out..does the hairs in the tank have any ill affect to my parameters? Just did my weekly water change and checked parameters and all is fine.

I’ll affect no however it can clog your overflow, possibly get into sump and return pump and cause minor flow issues
Until lid arrives, you can tape down nylon window screen or even lay down Saran wrap
Another thought is to run a fan across the top and it will blow hair away from tank

3 gsd here. No issues. Just every once in a while I’ll get a hair stuck around the nero’s

No matter how often I vacuum and clean, pet hair still gets into my tank. I am a little concerned about hair raising nitrates. I read an article recently where people were collecting hair from barber shops and then using it as plant fertilizers, supposedly it’s 15% nitrogen by weight. Not sure if the nitrogen can combine with oxygen to form nitrates, but it’s something worth looking into.

I try to not bathe my dogs in the tank. They like to roll in dog poop and dirt.

No worries like everyone else has said. I have two heelers that she’d like crazy along with two cats with out the life I would just clean the overflow once a week to keep things flowing. With the lid it does help a lot but still get some in there.
