Think my protein skimmer is doing to good of a job that my calerpa isn't doing good does that make sense?

Newish tank like 3 months and water changes every 3 weeks

It was thriving before I got the skimmer dialed in. Now not so good the skimmer is a beast

I feed enough I don't think it will happen

#reefsqaud what do you think? Get rid of it for now and add it later?

What r ur NO3 & PO4 levels? I would agree with @NeonRabbit221B, chaeto not doing well after dialing in skimmer leads me to believe there isn't sufficient nutrient in tank to feed chaeto. The skimmer is prob out competing chaeto, I'd try reducing # of hrs skimmer runs daily to see if chaeto grows again.

If it's starting to fall apart and die I'd toss it. Then again, I don't like algae scrubbers and chaeto much anymore... I struggle to keep nutrients up, and when your chaeto starts dying your corals might not be too far from lacking nutrients as well.

I respectfully disagree. Let the skimmer do its job, if PO4 comes up above .10ish and N is sufficient you can consider adding it again.
