Don’t think this is Diatom??

Hi Everyone,

So this is the third tank I have setup in 2m. This is the oldest one and I am not sure what is growing on the rocks. It does not blow off and the snails cannot eat it clean.

my other two tanks for the kids have diatoms and the snails just eat it off or I can blow it off.

it doesn’t feel or look like algae more like a patina change in the rock color?

Thoughts?? I figured rock would not be white forever just not sure what this is.

Almost 100% chance that is diatoms..

Pretty sure that is diatom... mmm tank also seems fairly new-ish and still cycling... I wouldn't worry about it.

Could be a green/brown coralline. I get it on my glass but it's a seasoned tank. Most likely diatoms.
