If..... Coral reefs in the wild would be wiped out by climate change and scientists found a way to make everything going back to normal. (like that would happen) and there was a big campagne, tv shows and radio advertisement, asking reefers donate their corals to try and build new reefs in the wild....
Would you do it?

If I could get mine to grow I wound definitely do so. In fact, I’d be beyond honored that my corals wound up rebuilding the reefs.

Probably not. The corals in my tank are acclimated to tank conditions. Exposing the wild remnant to my tank's inhabitants could easily be the final coffin nail for the wild reef survivors.

Some corals need a dedicated system. Dendronephthya one kind. I would continue to raise mama and papa corals but I would offer the frags. Which would suffice. these type of soft corals are impossible to raise and thrive in a artificial environment but hopefully soon in the near future that will change.

Funny you should ask this. I actually just finished a paper for one of my classes about a month ago - really length one about how I feel like that would be one of the better options to repopulate dying reefs. There have been other studies that involved implemented sun shades at 50%/75%/100% that seem to deter the effects of sun exposure and changing water conditions. But making sunglasses that big for reefs around the world would be unpractical.
But to answer your question: I am currently trying to grow out my corals as much as I can and then do so more research down the road on how lab grown corals that scientists are currently growing and repopulating these reefs are doing to make the coral more resistant to the growing challenges they face in the ocean. Apparently they are becoming more durable to the elements though.
