I was adding some new rockwork and broke my cross brace nearly in half.

I asked the LFS where I purchased it 4 years ago and they said that it is done.

I've already rationalized this into a tank upgrade, I'm just trying to figure out if I can leave the live rock and water in the tank while I work on moving the new tank.

This tank is on the third floor of my office, so needless to say it would be problematic if an 80 gallon tank split apart at the seams.

Probably wouldn’t go indefinitely with it like it is but short term should be ok. If you are concerned and not overly concerned about appearance you could put together a makeshift brace to keep it together until you upgrade.

Any glass shop can cut you a new piece and you can silicone to the tank OR silicone it to the existing glass

I’d put something like this across the top until you could get a new tank, just for peace of mind. And tighten it to the point where you close the gap in that crack.

But that’s just me...
