Well, today my neon goby is 25 months old and he looks very healthy. They say they only live 12 to 18 months, if that's true he must be a zombie neon goby. He has been such a joy to watch. And a valuable member of my tank. I hope he has a lot more life left in him.

This is were he sits in the morning and all my other fish get in line for there daily cleaning. It is so cool to watch.

I had an ORA Yellow Line Cleaner live for 3-1/2 yrs. in tank, so perhaps a total 4 years old.

So yes they can get quite old!

I find it interesting how land creature and water creatures are the exact opposite. It seems on land that the larger the animal is the shorter its lifespan ie great dane vs yorkie, but small fish are said to live shorter lives than the bigger ones!

I started my tank 25 months ago he was one of the first 13 fish that went in opening day.

Its about metabolic rate and predation. However, dogs are a different story given they are all one species.
