Today was glass cleaning day so I got out the ladder and got to it.. Cleaned all the glass. Cleaned the top then reached down and rearranged my frags, cleaned under frag racks.
I got down and left the room to put all the rags up.
About 5 minutes later I came back into the room and there was foam coming out of the doors on the bottom of my stand!!
After I finished yelling I opened the doors and my skimmer was throwing foam all over!
I had 3 feet of foam out into the room! All over my nice clean everything! ( I forgot to take pictures in my disbelief )
Well I yanked the skimmer cord out and stood there and just stared for a few minutes and then it came to me.
I had body lotion on my arms and hands.

Dont do this! Wash first! Lol!

Ouch... But iI bet the skin was silky smooth :-)

That's funny........ but NOT to you at the time I'm sure. Being an 'Old Salt' I never ever put anything lotion-wise on my hands/arms even when I really should. For this I do not have 'Silky Smooth' skin or an overly active Skimmer.... lol

Cheers, Todd

It was one for Americas Funniest videos.
Now my fish have silky smooth skin....
Won't be turning on the skimmer til tomorrow though.

Oh now we know It was a blonde thing. lol

Yeah you've got to be careful with stuff on your hands. I try and wait to put lotion on till I am done with all the fish chores and have checked on the tank X times and going to bed/leaving the house. I am glad it was nothing more serious!!!

I make sure to never touch my tank after working in/around the house, cleaning, or after my massage. I'm done for the day once I touch chemicals or grease. I like to play it super safe. Sorry this happened to you. Glad all is well. Hope everything survives.

Me too. I'm glad that I did not get in the car and leave. I would have had foam coming into the garage. My granddaughter came in and said "Grammie what happened to your fish tank"!
I usually would have long since rinsed the lotion off doing some other chore but not today.

At least you have a funny story to tell and memories that will last with your granddaughter. I fear the day my son gets old enough to start putting things in my tank. Going to child proof my stand doors soon.

That is exactly what I thought at first. Rubie put something in the tank. Pictures would have been great too! I love the way the tank looks in my dining room but not foam flowing out all over the floor. I worry about her sharing chocolate milk or something with the fish.

Wow, glad you caught it in time. Hope all works out and no harm comes fromit. Can only imagine what you might have come home to if you left for several hours with it foaming like it was.It might have looked like this...

I don't use lotion or body sprays at all because I'm worried about getting them in the tank...I don't think about what I'm doing sometimes.

Everyone is happy today.
Nobody blowing bubbles!

Granddaughter thought fish had "throwed up". Little stinker.
She always stands on a chair and plays " finger tag" with the fish.
