I have overstock my 6 gallon bank and I have 2 clown fish and 1 dotty back but I know for sure I'm going to get rid of the dotty back but I'm deciding which clown fish to keep I have the small one and then I have a big one ? What do you guys think keep the small one or big one

it really doesn't matter, if you get rid of the big one the small one will get big.

Get rid of the dottyback and keep the two clownfish. Minimum tank size is 10 gal. So you are not to far off. Plus if one is big and one is small they are most likely male and female(mated pair). So it would be messed up to split them up in my opinion.

Well I don't think there a mated pair because I got them from different store but I notice the big clown fish is kind of been aggressive towards the little one and I'm thinking of just getting rid of both and getting a snow flake I think is what they are called

They can become a mated pair in your tank. The females normally pick on the males.

Yes exactly what kbourque said is what I'm saying. And still getting one clownfish is bad. The reason why because they get lonely and don't live well by themselves ive seen this in other tanks and even in my own. That's why I ended up getting another one for my lone guy and he has been happy ever since.

The larger clown (female) being aggressive to the smaller (male) is the way with clown fish. As long as there are no torn fins and the small clown is not hiding in the corner or hanging out at the surface that it's probably fine.

You're probably getting sick of my input because basically you have asked the same question on the same type of thread already. Get rid of the Dottyback.

Hahaha Tahoe giving the bussiness! Lol listen to us just get rid of the dottyback and keep the two clowns. And snowflake clowns depending what grade are gonna get too big for your fish tank.

Agree keep the clowns get the dotty out and upgrade your tank before getting expensive designer clowns. You want anything you keep to be happy and healthy. Stressing expensive fish in too small of a tank isn't a good plan or investment.

The smaller one is hiding out in the corner and when it comes out to the middle of the tank it like nips at it ??

And no I'm not getting tired of your input your input helps but your the one that told me that after getting rid of that dotty back having 2 clowns fish in a 6 gallon is going to be to hard that's why I meant I didn't know what fish to keep the big clown fish or small because I was just going to keep one

A single clown eventually becomes the dominate female.

You can do a lot of cool coral frags, and your water chemistry will be a tad easier to control with only one fish.

You seem to have a lot of enthusiasm for the hobby so I imagine one day you'll get a bigger tank and be able to house more fish. Personally I am much more of a coral person than a fish person.

:)

Thanks I appreciate it !!

Another option could be to get rid of all the fish and get a fish that would be more size appropriate for the tank. A yasha goby and pistol shrimp pair would be a great addition. Yasha gobies typically get lost in a bigger tank, but in the 6 gallon you would be able to see them.
