So I have this wonderful purple monster colony and a wonderful granulosa colony but alas, as usual I planted them too close. The granulosa is the newest of the colonies planted and it is starting to grow over the purple monster's growing edge. That is most definitely not allowed!!

In this picture, you can see both colonies growing side by side with the granulosa growing over the purple monster.

Well, I am not going to allow the granulosa to mess with my purple monster so with chisel in hand (literally), drastic action is about to take place.

Now is when I shout "timber!!!"

Going!!! Even the fish want to check this out. Actually, hoping for a scrumptious treat to be exposed under the demolition.

Nobody messes with my purple monster!!!

Poor little granulosa got evicted, and like rob said- From what I could see in the background of the pics, your tank looks NICE! Just getting a little tease of sps. How about a FTS!?!?

I agree: my purple is pretty finicky and no one is allowed to mess. If I were you, I'd crazy glue or kalk paste over the base of the granulosa, just to make sure it's fully relocated. Hopefully, you found a better home (in the same tank) for the granulosa.

I did find another home for it in my tank, way too close to another colony but what the heck. My purple monster has not been finicky and surprisingly a fast grower which it is not supposed to be. I just did not want the granulosa to overrun it which was inevitable. They were not stinging but the granulosa was simply growing over the purple monster at the growing edge of the encrusting portion. And I think the purple monster deserves a lot of respect given its history in coral reefing.

Your purple monster is surprising light in coloration as well...its probably getting a lot of light which will speed up growth but if you want that deep purple you might have to move it down.

Nice work by the way.....I know this feeling of corals getting too close. I was just thinking how my tank is getting too full to work in and I still have frags trying to grow out.

Thank you. It is indeed light in color. I have it way up high, under one of my three 250 watt halides and the halides sit on the glass. So it truly is getting blasted by the light. I can't move it at this point, it has a large encrusting base. And I would prefer it darker but since I can't move it, I will enjoy the growth
