So due to some RLI i need to move my saltwater tank and at the same time remove the nosie the weir. As this tank is more of a FOWLR i thought that i could utilise one of my old tanks a 1.4m long Akvastabil tank & a Fluval FX6 that i use to use for cichlids.
so i started thursday evening as i needed the move to be sorted by sunday.
By sunday all fish have had a 3-4day dose of medication and fresh water dip and moved to new tank. I know that i will not have cured the white spot but some spores will have transfered on the original 35% of live rock anyway and this tank move had to be done.
Fish are looking quite happy though so thats good.
the problem now is i have new substrate(went with ECO-SAND made from crushed washed up shells), new filter & new water with only 35% original live rock so im gonna have to be on the ball with keeping an eye on the cycle.
I have added a couple of Hydra cata-pure filters to the system to help as i have found these to be great with ammonia in the past.
Does any one have any pointers with this type of situation which may help?

- First thing clean and site the new tank in position and full of new saltwater fX6 up and running with continuum exxodus bac brick in the trays. i was hoping to later move over some rubble from the sump to seed filter
- Second tank inspection on the old tank "what hell--- white spots on some fish---panic" ahh moved 35% of the live rock to new tank with inverts. the remaining 65% is in 3 large pieces and i thought that the fish would want somewhere to hid to avoid them fighting....
- Decided to dose anti parasite medicaltion for 3 days........ couple of days in it dawned on me that i have just nuked 65% of my live rock, gravel & rubble in my sump!!:mad::mad:
