Hi, I’ve picked up a juvenile regal angel, feeding really well, only slight concern is a cyst on the dorsal fin. My plan is just to monitor and continue to feed, feed, feed.
Im wondering if anyone has experienced similar?
If so do they just go away, or will it rupture risking infection? Thanks

It looks like this fish had lymph (a harmless virus generally) but in other photos this does look like a bubble or cyst of some sort. I had an Achilles Tang with this on its belly for 24 hours then it vanished. How long has it been there?

Any chance of getting photos with the blues off for better ID?

I’ll try and get a better picture tonight but yes it does look like a transparent liquid filled blister, nothing external. It’s been there since I purchased the fish 2 weeks ago, before that is anyone’s guess. It’s hard to tell but doesn’t seem to be shrinking or expanding

My inclination would be to watch, but not worry.

If I felt that intervention was called for, I might consider lancing the thing and allowing the fluid to drain, following that up with an Acriflavin (antiseptic) bath.

I struggled to get a good picture, I will try again over the weekend when I have more time but it looks pretty much the same. I’ll keep you updated.
