Hi all,
Recently I canceled a backorder on the GHL Doser 2.1 SA (hope it was not a mistake). I decided that since I have an Apex Gold version that I would instead pick up a DOS and the DOS containers. The only reason I did this is a wanted to control and see fluid levels and I could not find anything on GHL that did this.

Anyways I am trying to figure out if I need to buy any of those $100 apex "add" on boxes to get the DOS to work with my apex.

Thanks for your help.

I have the DOS, and DDR, and I also have the GHL standalone doser 2.0 . I actually like both a lot. But, as stated you do not have to by the 1 link to use the DOS and DDR. The DOS has a 1-link connector for the DDR (which has the 1-link cable to connect to).

On a side note, the GHL can monitor fluid levels. It can do it with any container, while APEX makes you use the DDR to monitor fluid levels. Its actually a misconception that the DDR measures levels. The optical sensors in the DDR have nothing to do with the fluid levels of the DDR, the only let set alarms once it drops below the sensor. The way the DDR actually measures the level is when you fill the DDR you click a fill button and it subtracts how much it doses until you fill it again. APEX could do this with any container by they don't, which I think is only to make you a buy a DDR. I see no reason why they can't add this function to their software so you can use any sized dosing container you want.

The GHL software has a function where you set the amount that is in your dosing container and then as you dose it subtracts it. So you can keep track of the level in the containers.

I use the DOS for alk and Ca. One additional gripe with the DDR, is the ALK causes a film on the optical sensor and it doesn't always trip it. Not sure if other people have that issue. It doesn't really matter to me because I can still see how much fluid is in the container.

I bought the GHL because I was going to be dosing 4 additional elements in small amounts and was using smaller containers and didn't want two more DOS, and really couldn't fit them. I do like having both units lol I think being in this hobby a long time I really love all the advances especially the dosing equipment. When I started their weren't many options, really just the Litermeter, then the Drews pumps came out, etx.

Hope that helps.

Hey all.
Thanks for the feed back. I put a message out to Terrence but never heard back so thank you. Maybe I switch back to my original plan and get the GHL. I'm still dialing in my daily two part dosing so Im not in a real hurry. Maybe wait until Christmas to see if anything goes on sale. I've been reading some on the Proflux controller and it looks nice. might look in giving it a go as well.
