I just set my new DOS up for AWC. I have it set to change 4 gallons over 4 hours...

The DOS turns on and runs like crazy for 630ml then shuts off for roughly 5mins. Then repeats itself.

I am somewhat hard of hearing, Gotta have the tv volume up on 50 when rest of family can hear it at 25 type hard of hearing. But I can hear my DOS loud as day! It is inside a cabinet.

When I set the DOS up I just set it up through fusion using the tasks tab.... How can I make the DOS run continuously until it changes out 4 gallons and slow the DOS down where I can't hear it and my family doesn't kill me over the noise?

That's how the DOS is designed to work. It periodically stops to allow the heads to cool down. The DOS speed is dictated by the amount you tell it to pump over a period of time. If you want to reduce the noise, stretch the schedule out over a longer period of time. Many people (including me) have it set to change water 24 hours which allows it to run at a much slower speed.

Lastly, if the noise really gets to you, you can place the DOS in a different room and run long tubing and AquaBus cable to the DOS. Mine is 30 feet away in my garage so I can't hear it in my living room where the tank is.

Thank you for the reply and the information! I wish I would have known this before I spent almost five hours yesterday running all of the RODI tubing under the crawl space from one side of the house to the other so that my DOS could be next to my controller. ;Wacky;Wacky;Wacky

Just a quick question if you happen to know, I will admit I am a lazy water changer. That's why I got the DOS. Will having DOS change 4 gallons over the course of 24 hours will that still lower my nitrates the same as if I'm having a change 4 gallons in 4 hours?

I'm no scientist, but I'd guess changing 4 gallons all at once or 4 gallons spread over 24 hours would have a pretty similar impact on nutrient control. That might be a good question for @Randy Holmes-Farley.
