Today, we’re talking about the shape of dosing containers which come in several different sizes including cubes, cylinders, multi-compartment, and more. Do you choose different shapes for different things that you are dosing, or do you stay consistent with all your dosing containers? What size and shape do you prefer? Is there a benefit to one shape over the other? Did you DIY your dosing container solution or maybe use the product containers? Do you have any tips to share about selecting dosing containers? I just drill a hole in the lid of whatever bottle it came in, and use drip irrigation system risers connecting to doser tubing.

5qt, hdpe, wall mount and 1/4 barb bottom. Dunno what I'll use them for, but I have them for my build if they ever become needed. ~30$ each.

I am sure the shape isn’t really important to function of the dosing system. It’s just what you have room for in your stand or side cabinet. I just got a set of three 1 liter glass jars with plastic lids and one of the BRS tall slim plastic containers for my AFR. They all fit nicely in the stand, so that is why I went with what I did.

on the 90 I tore down in September I used the container the liquid was in when I purchased it. I'm setting up a RedSea Reefer 3200 G2 with a Red Sea doser. I like the DIY I found on Reef2Reef using CORE water bottles. Easy to make and I can see the liquid level. They hole about 900ml which is a nice size.

I use old 16 or 20oz empty water bottles. Drill a hole in the cap, stick the tubing through the cap, use 2 O-rings (1 on top of the cap and 1 under the cap) to hold tubing tight. I always measure my RO water and AllForReef first though to make sure I'm dosing the correct amount.

My ato container is a round cheesy poof container. My wife gets them at work and theyre great for all kinds of things. Hold almost 2 gallons and fit perfectly in my stand. I also made a dripper out of one.

If I were buying a container specifically for dosing, I would probably get square bottom with a measuring scale on the side. But Red Sea products have hose barbs already in the bottle caps... too convenient

I just got these. I had the smaller version before and drilled murloc fittings in the top and they worked great. i moved to the bigger ones since i dose more now

I use plain old plastic gallon jugs. If you haven't got the space for them, then find yourself a common and readily available container. If you're seriously concerned with the aesthetics of your dosing apparatus, then by all means spend away. Otherwise, you probably don't need to spend a single red penny.

Found these at Walmart. Multiple uses for mixing, transferring liquids and dosing. About $13 if I recall correctly. Holds 2 gal and can replace the spout with 1/4" connector. Very easy to refill smaller containers with the spout and stack great.

Shape only matters to me in the sense that I need to fit the biggest possible dosing containers in the space available. I currently use a 24liter bucket for carbonate dosing and a 5 liter rectangular container for calcium dosing...
