Doser failed overnight

You'd need to set the code on the outlet, but then it'll turn the power off to the outlet. Think of how it shuts down pumps and such that aren't "controllable".

If you tried to set it under advanced in settings for the pump head, I don't think that would have helped you in this instance.

If your DOS 1Link is connected to an energy bar for electrical power
the line of code I provided above
https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/doser-failed-overnight.259659/page-2#post-3079827
would turn the power outlet OFF as a safety backup when pH rises above 8.5. That is made possible because the ON|OFF states of the energy bar power outlets can be remotely controlled by Apex programming.

1. Is your DOS power coming from a 1Link module plugged into a wall outlet directly or plugged into an energy bar?
  • Normal is DOS -> 1Link -> wall plug.

Plugging a 1Link into an energy bar is not the standard configuration for providing its power. I do not know if there are any functional drawbacks for DOS unit operations with that type of hookup.

I didn't have a fail safe statement like "if ph >xx then turn off". I assume I would need to plug the unit into the EB8 for this statement to work? Not sure if this statement would actually cut the power to the unit or just set the unit to turn off. If it was the latter then in my case I don't think it would help.

At what height is your dosing container compared to the DOS pump?

Sorry to hear this, not the first time I have heard of dosers doing this, hope it recovers well.
Going to stick with my ghetto measuring cup and me.

DOS unit mounted above sump and the dosing containers are sitting on the floor.

Does the end of the dosing line (that goes into your sump) terminate below the water line or does it drip in?

I'm also assuming the dosing containers are below the sump waterline.

So the only thing that I think could have happened is:
1. Unit malfunctioned and remained in the on position
2. Alex programming error kept it in the on position.

Crazy!
