I just started using my new doser yesterday and I guess I set it up wrong and it way overdosed. I was trying to dose some Fritz Aquatics algae control into my tank which are you supposed to dose 5 mL every three days and I just checked it now and it has dosed almost my entire 250 mL bottle. Should I just do a water change or will it just be fine?

Not familiar with the product or active ingredient. But I would be preparing a massive water change. As we found with Vibrant, we do not always know for sure what is in these bottles. 94.6% "other" ingredients.

No, it will not be fine. They recommend not even to do a double dose. Somebody with way better chemistry knowledge will step it. I would do a massive water change, aerate, carbon , then more water changes.

How is everything in the tank looking? Sorry to hear about this, what a bummer. I would definitely avoid dosing this chemical in the future. I always tell people instead of using chemicals like this, just make sure the tank has enough live rock and flow. With the right set up and enough patience, it will work itself out.

For now, I would starting doing a few large water changes to smooth things out. Don't be so aggressive. I would try doing about 30% water change twice a day (morning and at night) for a few days to see how things turn out then adjust from there. Good luck!

I did a 70% water change that night and as of right now all of my fish and corals seem to be doing fine and everything is still alive. Thanks for the help.

Major water change and fresh carbon. Tomorrow, another 20% water change. Best to manually and not auto dose product like this

dang, have nothing much to add other than water changes and carbon but I'd like to know if you have any idea how it managed to dose so much. I'm new to this too and have never used one. I imagine they should have failsafes or something though right ?
