Ok.... need some help with programming one of my 2.1 dosers to perform a specific task.

Once a day, I want to be able to dose a small amount from 4 particular vials (this assignment is going to take up an entire 4 head dosing unit).

Before it draws th liquid to dose, I want the doser to pump at max rate in reverse. The plan is for the air that it pumps into the vial to mix the components. It doesn't need to be vigorous, just enough to stir the sediment into suspension. Once it's done this, I need it to dose at slowest speed my required amount. Once it's dosed, I then want the doser to run in reverse again to purge the lines of any content and return it to the vials.

Is this even possible and if so, some help with the programming please.

Hope this all makes sense.

Tanks.

Interesting question. This idea is similar to the sample line of the KH Director. I don't know the answer but Vinny or Ditto might. I do like the idea of after dosing purging lines of stuff. I was thinking about setting up to dose aminos. They need to be refrigerated, so reverse pumping left over back would be nice.

The only thing I see is that you would have to include the length of a dosing tube into your equation of how much you want to dose. So you have to fill the lines, dose and empty the lines.

The D2.1 and Maxi pumps can be set to run in reverse to allow all the fluids to drain from the tube.
If you use the Manual dose schedule option, you can set a dose amount that includes the volume held inside the tubes, then another dose amount in reverse. The reverse dose would have to be set to the amount that is in the tubes.

I'm not sure how much of an agitation you're expecting to get out of bubbles. The pumps are not pressure driven so it may not create enough force to move much sediment.

@eliasi - what Vinny said is what you need to do. It done via manual dosing and I do this, and also use magnetic sitters on other dosing pumps.

Attached is an what I have on one of my dosing pumps. I use this one for my marine snow and it works well.

Thanks Ditto, that’s great. I’d actually got this far, it works the way it should. I was hoping though that you could nominate a different speed for one of the cycles but it appears that you cannot.
I have a work-around for this though. Small air pump programmed to come on before the initial dosing to help agitate the contents. No need to take up room with a stirrer this way. I just hope that exposing the contents to air every couple of days doesn’t degrade it over time.
