So I'm going to buy a doser. Originally was just looking for like a cheap doser to get by (single head jebao). Then started thinking I could ante up and just get something better that I'd use for a longer time (kamoer x1 pro2). Now I'm wondering if it even matters since doser technology doesn't run a large gap between the cheapest and most expensive dosers (jebao 3.4 4 head wifi).

I have an Apex but I don't want to go with DOS for redundancy reasons.

Though I do remember watching a video once where they said some of these dosers are not that accurate because of the type of head they use. I think some heads use pressure and others use gears? But I can't remember and I'm not sure if that was accurate. Any insight on this?

I have been using Spectrapure liter meter 3’s for dosing for many years. Highly recommended but expensive. I have also used and recommend the BRS dosers. The doser worked great but I had it on a mechanical timer that failed. Hopefully others will chime in as well.

I used a cheap Amazon / Chinese made bubble magnus knock off a few years ago.

It worked well enough, but ended up dosing a large amount of Alkalinity all at once which contributed to a mass SPS loss in my tank.

I'm using a Kamoer F4 pro now which has an awesome level of customization on the dosing schedule and easy to check the head calibration.

Might be a bit of overkill if your just starting out but I recommend it.

i went ahead and ordered the jebao 3.4 wifi model. i'll use it for now and add the kamoer f4 pro down the line when i start 2 part. right now its really just for carbon dosing so im not too worried about it - can keep it for back up or something else. also ive got an apex so i have the added protection of warning if something is off like my 2 part. but yeah i think after researching the f4 pro wifi is the way to go.
