Well now that I figured out that I need to manually dose about 30 ml of alk every night to keep my system up after running kalk in my top off I know I need a doser doser because sometimes I forget tk dose the question I have is which doser I was thinking bubble magus or the brs dosers with timer I will be dosing both alk and cal can a few of you who have used theese chime in and tell me which one your using I need to purchase something soon
Thanks in advance

Following along. Im at that stage of the game as well. Price is about the same once u buy the timers for the BRS doser's. I hadn't looked at the Magus. I really like that unit. If money wasn't a object what about the Vertex unit?

Hey alex how do you like it so far I have heard that it is noisy is it? Can yiu have muktipke settings I would lije to dose cal during the day and alk at night

I have the BRS dosers and I love them. Super slow drip rate and with a good electric timer you can stagger them however you want.

The bubble magus, has three pump. you set how many ml of each solution you want and how many times you want it to dose. in addition it does not let you does chemicals together ,instead it staggers them by 5 minutes. very satisfied with this product.

On my old system I used to use the BM doser for alk, cal, and mag. I would dose alk and cal throughout the day and mag once a day. I chose this setup because I it was 1 plug instead of 3 and didn't want to use up all my outlets on my controller. I'm setting up a new system and going to be using it again and programming the doser not to run for 24 hours after a water change.

The BRS are very durable and the tubing holds up very well. They are also very precise.

The choice for me was easy as I have the GHL Profilux controller, so I went with the GHL doser and love it. I have not tried the stand alone doser, but I have to assume it's a high quality product, like other GHL equipment. Also uses 1 plug for 4 pumps.

I wouldn't necessarily say "don't get a doser" if you're already inclined and budgeted for one - there're lots of good DIY and commercial options.

However, there are some other tools and strategies that you can look to before that, or even as a compliment to dosing.

One is your current dosing levels. If you aren't already keeping 420ppm Ca, 4.0 meq/L alkalinity and 1350 Mg, you can certainly take them that high on each dose and you'll have just that much more "headroom" for your alkalinity before "missing a dose" can have a negative impact.

Another is water changes. If you can make them quick and easy for yourself, you can do 10% per day and have amazing results.

Last is kalkwasser, or limewater. Integrating it with your top-off strategy can potentially make a huge reduction in your two-part regime. I use a Tunze 5074, for one example. Nothing to break! :-) Using the instructions here, you can use vinegar to boost the potential of limewater as high as you want.

I've got the BRS dosers with BRS two part, and it's been flawless for over a year. Run them on a reefkeeper light. These require timers, so if you've got a controller it's cheaper. If you don't have a controller, and don't want a controller, then maybe an all in one doser is the way to go. I use my controller for way more stuff, so the BRS was the most cost effective way for me. Plus I think they are a little more robust compared to the all in ones.
