Welcome to R2R!

Not sure how much experience you have etc, and it sounds like you’re trying to get yourself organized before starting. Great idea!

As to Dosers I have a four head doser. I use two for dosing Alk and Ca. The other two are for convenience (and spares) so I use them for dosing NoPox and Reef Energy. That said, Ive only had my tank for ten months and started using a doser about a month ago. Prior to that I was doing everything by hand and measuring parameters every three days. The big benefit was that I developed a feel for my tank and nothing ever went too far from my target levels.

My point is that I view a doser as a “nice to have” and not a “must have” when starting a tank. For a 240 I’m guessing at some point you’ll want or need a doser.

Good luck!

Thank you for the feedback.I was along the same idea as it being much easier for some dosing that i wont have to do manually and try not to forget.I love the idea of them and i was already looking at the 4 head and maybe even a few extra heads in case of a failure. You nailed it as for me trying to do ALOT of homework and get it right the first time around.Any help on a skimmer would be nice too.My old E.T.S.S.800 i dont believe it will be sufficent for the 240.

For my doser I looked at the Kamoer, GHL, Neptune DOS (even though I don’t own an APEX) but finally settled on the Ecotech Versa. I bought it as a 4 pack with the base station because I liked how it was modular. If a pump goes bad, I can just swap it out with another one and plug it into the base station. I know it’s expensive but so far so goodl

Theres a poll going on right now about skimmers. You can probably search for it. I think the poll is showing Red Sea as the top choice.

Thanks again for the information on the dosers,i dont mind the money side i like to get what i pay for, plus i dont want to do it 2 or 3 times trying to get it right.I found it costs even more to do it wrong. lol
