Afternoon. While I understand what each does, do I need a controller to run my Doser? No right? I should be able to set and control my additives with the doser not the combo. Correct?

Correct. Although personally I love the idea of a doser linked to a controller. For example if your alk pump goes bad and gets stuck on, your controller could detect the jump in pH and kill the power to that outlet before it can cause major damage.

I agree you don't need a controller to use most dosing pumps but the controller will add piece of mind in the event of a pump failure. Some dosing pumps require a timer or controller to turn them on and off.
