Dosers....

I am using the GHL dosing stand alone dosing pump (( not the new "2" )). Been using it for about a month now, and so far pretty pleased with it. Was fairly easy to set up/calibrate.

Bubble Magus tripple doser since 3-4 years working great.
Marine color doser, love the ability to calibrate but mine was a bit problematic and if one oump would geqt stuck due to whatever reason it would continuously try to dose from all pumps one after the other which can get problematic.

How do you guys know the initial dosage to start with?
an initial look at the tank (number and size of corals) can give an estimate on where to start, test frequently on first few days / weeks and make adjustments accordingly. It also depends on which brand or method your using.

My dosing containers are 2.5 liters. I tested the tank, to get my baseline.
I have graduated cylinders and filled them up 10 times (( was either 1,000 or 1,500 -- can't remember off hand the size of the cylinders )). Topped the containers with RO/DI water to the 2.5 liter mark. Test every couple of days to see if the levels are holding, raising or dropping and will adjust accordingly.

Had BM dosing units . I like the price of the Jebao dp-2 with the buttons on the front for CA n ALK . I can just manually add mag .
To get dosages u test the water and manually adjust to get it within NSW parameters (use a reef calculator). wait 1 week . Check the depletion rate . Use a dosing calculator to get back to NSW levels and divide by 7 for a daily dosage . U break that number down to 50% for bi-daily dosing etc . U check every few days to see if everything is well and adjust as needed.

I've been using GHL Doser and Doser 2. The mechanical portion is rock solid. The programming part is hit or miss for people. I use Apple computers and it was a bit of a headache to program them, update firmware, etc. But if you have a PC it should be a non-issue. I'd still buy them. I wish the Apex DoS was a 4 head unit.

Apex Dos very accurate and easy to use

Really? I've been hearing the exact opposite on this thing. Such problems such as back siphoning and inaccurate dosing throughout the day, then making up for it all at once at the end. There is quite a few threads on the neptune forum about this thing.

Have a DOS on the way. Where are some of these threads to read about it?

Pacific Sun! Very easy to use program, 5 dosing heads and it's very accurate. Tells you how much liquid is left in your container, how many days until you need to refill the container, plus it has bluetooth! Overall a great doser

I like my Kamoer Doser, it rated well on Reef Builders and was a great price when I bought it new. Its considered to have slightly higher end parts than Bubble Magus, but about the same price or less.

Ya i gigured out why it would back siphoned the rotating wheel the tube will slip out if it is not put on properly . My suggestion is double check and make sure it is attached if its not it make a noise when it moves once i figured it out it works perfectly i never had to mess with it
