I believe that .5mg/L (1.4dKH)per day is the recommended maximum level.

Learned that the hard way! [emoji851]

To the op, I'd suggest you present your current alkalinity level, and your desired level, and then we would be able to tell you how much to dose.
I'd also suggest you say what you're using for alkalinity dosing so that one of us with experience with that product would be better able to assist.

As for a maximum dose, I'd be weary to say.

My alk Is 8.4 in a day it drops to 7.7 . So it consumes .7 a day. My sps started to get some stn at the bottom . I been working so much I only dose once a day and wanted to see how much I can add at one time . I'll be getting my dosing pump next week

That's the starting point per the directions. There's Also a dosing calculator in the BRS site that has helped me tremendously. All the fancy math that I slept through can't do what the calculator can.

Btw, the ESV is a really great product, but you can burn the corals with the alkalinity portion if you over dose.

When I was hand dosing, I would pour it slowly into my overflows, allowing it to dilute/mix in the sump before returning to the DT. Here is a BRS video that will answer your question. Here is another calculator that is very easy to use.

I dose according to the tanks needs. Right now it's 200ml for a volume of 150 gallons. I divide it up in three dosses right now, but have BRS dosing pumps on order. BTW they are on sale.

thank you. I do like that one.
Thanks all good info for anyone for sure.

Yup I have the dosers, and just getting my head around the amounts of each product. Read all the instructions, figured my usage(im double triple checking that over the next weeks)
So I think its also just practice doing it and calculating,(and trying not to worry) its like any new thing, like riding a bike.
So it's Pretty helpful to have several sources to check my math. it seems odd the numbers Im getting as their not balanced or seem to me. so im not confident in my dose or if im choosing an unattainable target.
thats prob the big new doser confusion.

75 Gal cal 360 now 420 target alk 7.7 now 8.5 0 9 target is this balanced? add 304ml cal and 43ml alk.

If you "need" a lot to get to NSW levels, you can add that all at once, IMO.

0.7 dKH once a day may be fine. 0.35 dKH twice a day would possibly be better. :)
