Hello. I plan on dosing all-for-reef. These are my parameters right now. Should I start dosing? 120 gallon. Cal- 410. Mag- 1170. Alk- 7.8. Phos- 0. Thanks in advance!

No one can really say as there isn't a lot of data. How do these numbers trend over a week or two or three? Need to understand the consumption rate.

How old is the display?

How does the display look?

What sort of corals are in the display?

How do the numbers trend over time?

To answer that we need to know how old your tank is, how many corals, and how much Alk you go through per day. If you are not losing much all there is not much point to dose until your load is greater.

The display is about 5 months old. Mainly soft and lps but a couple beginner sps frags. These we’re my numbers 10 days ago. Cal- 440 Mag- 1170 Alk- 8.6 Phos- 0. This is the display so pretty stocked right now

the tank is about 5 months old. It’s pretty stocked for the most part. Everything seems to be doing fine. My torches have been a bit finicky. These were the numbers 10 days ago. Cal- 440 Mag- 1170 Alk-8.6 phos- 0.

I think whether you should start dosing or not depends on stability. If you tested 10 days apart (without adding anything) then you should be able to figure out daily usage and dose accordingly. Also, remember with AFR that ALK numbers take time to show up so start slow and steady to avoid a spike in a few days. How are you measuring Phos? True 0.0 is usually not ideal which could be the cause for the torches being finicky. I believe that you want it at least detectable.

Yeah on the phos it’s kinda hard to detect I feel like cuz I’m using the sailfert test kit and I never see any blue when I test it so I just feel like it tests 0.

As noted by @scottkoji and @DIFish it is about the consumption rate of your display. I would test 2 or 3 times a week at or around the same time of day using the same kit and note the numbers. You can throw into Excel or Numbers or just look at it and see how much of anyone is being consumed. You can then do a normal water change, test again, and see how much that replaced or if there was any change.

All for Reef (TM AFR) is pretty straight forward to use and includes recommended dosing (instructions and information below). One thing they note is to get the parameters to the numbers you want before you start. That can be done easily enough by manually adjusting.

TL: DR - test a couple times a week, at the same time, and compare to see how much of anything is changing. Then get numbers / parameters to what you want, then calculate TM AFR dose and start.
