I recently started dosing amino's twice a week at about 1/2 the recommended dose. I noticed that my GFO has stopped tumbling...I'm assuming the amino acids created a bacteria bloom and saturated my GFO. Besides that, I didnt notice anything else out of the ordinary. I stopped dosing it all together. Is this a possibility? Would I be right with this assumption?

I dose Red Sea Amino Acid and have never had an issue with my GFO..? I'm fairly new to the hobby but this is my experience

I do not think amino acids would cause that unless a lot of bacteria was growing there.

Solidifying GFO is mostly from precipitated calcium carbonate, IMO, which is accelerated by iron, high pH, high alk, high calcium, and low magnesium.

Thanks Randy, maybe I just added too much GFO to the reactor this time. I did add more than usual and I only have one maxi jet 1200 running two brs reactors.
