Who is dosing Aquavitro fuel? I just picked some up and plan to start dosing but noticed the bottle says "Refrigerate After Opening". Can I not add this to my 1.5L dosing container and use my dosing pump?

I will be dosing per the recommended amount on a 265 gallon system so 26 ml a day.

copied this off the Aquavitro fuel website ..

Does fuel™ need to be refrigerated?
A: We recommend refrigerating as this will help to preserve the organics in the product. That being said, if it is not refrigerated, it will not break down completely. If it has been kept at room temperature, it should be fine. Over time it is quite normal for the product to darken and to have a stronger organic smell.

By 'stronger, organic smell', they mean it STINKS :)

I keep mine in the fridge, and dose manually every day. I did try running it with my dosing pumps, but I really didn't think the smell was great and wasn't sure what the impact was!

@FMF0331 thanks for that information! I appericate the fast reply.

@Gribbliest thanks for that input I would love to be able to dose it manual but the tank is located in my retail store and I would hate to trust in others to dose the tank when I am not here.

Depending on how much you dose (and therefore how large the system is), you may be fine - the faster you use it the better... Maybe just keep a small amount in the dosing container and replace/refill from refrigerated weekly?

I didn't see any negative response, I just didn't like the smell (which I only noticed when opening the dosing container - it's not like it permeated through the house or anything).

I don't believe you'd see any issues doing it.

Just to clarify, when you say 26mL a day, you mean 26mL twice a week, correct? If you dosing for a 265g system you should be dosing ~67mL twice a day.

I personally dose 3/4 of the recommended dosage. I have a 300g system and I only dose 56mL every 3 days instead of 75mL as they suggest.

No, it lowers O2 levels and I don’t run a skimmer, this seemed like a dangerous combination. I dose about 3-4 ml every other day for my 28g tank.

Lowering O2, is very true. See the attached image of my ORP values, each dip is 3 days apart when I add Fuel.

My hydnophora shows a really interesting response: it fully retracts it’s polyps almost immediately after I dose. It doesn’t do this for anything else, including 2 part or feeding of any sort. I always wondered if it was grabbing something it really needed, or was irritated.

The PE in my SPS is always minimal immediately following feeding, but I'd have to take notice when dosing Fuel.

Digging this up as a correction, it does not lower your oxygen. Oxygen and ORP are not directly* related, oxygen influences the level but it’s more complex. This downward spike in the ORP graph is due to Vitamin C being a strong reducer, which is present in aquavirtro fuel.

if you dose in Acropower, this downward spike does not occur.

*ORP measurement is not a direct measurement of dissolved oxygen but is heavily influenced by DO and other oxidants.
