I have about 125# of KP Aquatics rock I’m curing in the basement. God awful smell and I’m on my 4th full water swap.

Will dosing something like micro bacter help get past this nasty smell faster or is it a waste as the rock itself has enough on it and I Need to weather the smell?

Thanks!

it has tons of bac already, that wont help as much as simply cleaning off any items we know are likely to cure out anyway and doing water changes.

dosing bacteria into suspension sure can offset nh3 we see it all the time in fish-in cycles

but to stop production, nothing will arrest dieoff faster than clean aerated water exchange, nothing. that will stop dieoff, and its handy to pre remove super sponges etc because we know reefs support bugs and coralline and then select from their own variables which benthic creatures they'll support. if that rock was mine any sponges or tunicates get pre scraped off even if not dead yet.

Thank you, appreciate it. I figured but was grasping for anything...... especially fresh air lol.

Ive been pulling everything off, this last time I didn’t find any so hopefully I’m almost to the top of the hill.
