This is a perfect dosing bottle all for $1.99. The Voss glass water bottle.

Do you puncture a small hole for an air vent? I don't see people do that with their dosing containers, but isn't it necessary to prevent a vacuum/the bottle bowing in?

I can’t answer for OP, but you are correct that air has to get in to prevent a vacuum. I’ve used the smallest drill bit I have to make a hole. In my current setup I’m not using fittings and made the hole for the tubing slightly larger than the tubing.

Cool. I literally set up my first ever doser last night (Jebao DP-4) and punched a little hole in each lid with a tack. Should be just enough air to equalize pressure. Glad I'm not crazy in thinking that was necessary haha

make sure your containers are around your dosing tube end height wise. the Jebao doses will not hold a perfect seal in the doing heads 100% of the time. mine emptied an entire bottle of calcium because mine was too high and it leaked...

Sorry, not sure I follow what you're saying (but I definitely want to). Are you saying, keep the bottles below the doser or it will siphon into the tank?

keep the bottles at the same level or below the end of your dosing lines in the sump.

it's a possibility that it will siphon if your bottles are too high. peristaltic pumps should make perfect seals inside the tubes, but that's theoretical. mine would only leak sometimes but even sometimes is no good if you're talking about dumping a whole bottle of alk or cal solution.

Ah, got it! Definitely will do. Thanks!

I much prefer my $200 Neptune DDR with broken optical sensors :(:( Those look really nice....for a really nice price lol.
I'll sell you my Voss oh I mean Neptune dosing beaker for $199. The newest model. Lol.

I just started dosing. I'm a freshman in reef tanks. I'm trying to get the hang of everything. Manually dosing my tank. Then maybe I'll purchase a doser.

If you guys are able to get ahold of some IV tubing and stopcocks you can set yourself up a dosing IV for the tank. Dial in the stopcock and you got a cheap doser. Wala.

I've seen a few people add a reverse check valve on the Voss bottles, or others for that matter. While the hold being drilled works it can clog thus the valve. Others even use the air pump needle wheels attached to a hose.

I took the styrofoam sealing piece out of the top. This leave enough of a leak to allow air in.

The bottles are glass so they make great containers. 63CE0046-A66B-4106-B768-8AA4553EB67F.jpeg
