I just got my ICP test and overall everything looked good but my iodine. I didn’t feel like ordering ATI’s iodine solution and waiting so I went up to my LFS and got Brightwell Iodion. I need to raise my level by 40.7 microgram/L (~0.041 PPM) per the ICP results but the Iodion doesn’t give very clear instructions and equations/formulas like their other products. The tank is 50 gallons (net roughly 45). Any mathematicians out there who could help? (Instructions linked)

I'm not sure it will be helpful to dose iodine, but it's a fine experiment.

Brightwell says 1 ml in 1 gallon boosts I by 0.8 ppm.

You have 45 gallons and want a 0.047 ppm boost, so you need:

45 x 0.047/0.8 = 2.6 mL.

Note the ICP test doesn't tell you how fast it is depleting, so you can only use one ICP test to get the initial corrective dose. In my tank it depleted in less than a week, but didn't appear beneficial to dose.

Good point, it’s strange that everything else was in the perfect zone and I don’t dose any trace elements. Iodine seemed to be the only one that depleted
