Dosing Calcification and Leaks

Just curious, has anyone had any experience or evidence that indicates calcification (from dosing) on the glass corners/seams can cause leaks?

Never herd of it happening like that. It usually occurs on things that produce heat. You will have mad buildup on pumps before it would on a seam of silicone.

Are you seeing a white substance building up on the outside of seam?

No, I just have quite a bit of calcification in the area I dose. It was because it was too stagnant for a while. It's alot better now bc I added a powerhead but i think it's still happening. I am not sure what else to do except dose slower, which I can't do with my current pump. But my real concern is, could this impact the seems. It's def touching them but I don't see any visible penetration yet.

Ahh ok.. only thing I would suggest is to spread the dose out as much as possible and keep the effluent directly in your water movement. You must be dosing directly into display?
I don't think it would harm the seams if it gets crusted over. I've had it happen before. But you are losing product!

It looks as if the power head is submerged a good amount. For dosing, you want the surface of water that comes into contact with your dose to be rapidly churning.
