hello

So over the past couple of months I have started dosing in my Red Sea reefer 350.
I'm dosing alk and cal through my dosing pump, and mag manually as needed.
I'm curious though. As my tank at the moment needs 14.5ml of alk daily but calcium only 6ml.
Is this a normal range difference?
Currently calcium is sitting at 440
Alkalinity at 7.2

Any info on this would be awesome.
Thanks :)

Have you/are you doing any WC's? If so, you have to consider the fact that you're adding/replenishing those elements with each WC. With the uptake of alk being ~ 2 1/2 times that of your Ca(2.8dKH/50ppm Alk to every 20ppm Ca.) it wouldn't be unusual that you would be dosing more Alk than Ca in this case

@Downbeach I think you meant Alk but less Ca but regardless the point you made is true for me too. I have to dose Alk daily but no Ca at all as it seems to be replenished with weekly WC.

I do a weekly 10% water change.
But as said having to daily dose 14.5 ml alk and 6 ml cal
