I've moved into a mixed reef, naturally my calcium consumption is a lot higher. What do you recommend to use with my dosing pump? I tried AFR and my Alkalinity was sky high.

I dose my alkalinity and calcium separately, and mix in a bit of magnesium along with the calcium at the same time (that way I can get away with only 2 dosing heads).
Are you using seachem 2 part?

Nyos, but I mix my calcium and magnesium together.
Gotcha. I'm looking for something good to use with my dosing pump. I've heard about nyos before but not much

You should look at balanced dosing, where you dose a 2 or 3 part additive by equal amounts based on Alkalinity consumption. That way the tank chemistry stays nicely balanced.

You can read the following article for a DIY mix you can make very cheap using off the shelf chemicals

A4R does not raise alk if dosed correctly so something is not right. I run it on a 20g. I run 2 part on a 45 and I run a carx on an 80/40.

What do you use to keep alk in range.

That said I have used esv for over 7 years and its simple to use.
