I have a birdsnest and a few montipora digitata corals that have been taking up way to much space in my tank so I finally decided to do something about it. I've given up on trying to give them away so in the trash they go, but I'm a little worried that I've removed enough fast growing corals that I need to adjust my dosing schedule.
For anyone who has removed a relatively large coral did it noticeably effect your alk/cal consumption. My 125g tank currently uses about 1.2 dKh per day

Here is a few pics to get an idea of the amount that I removed from the tank.

That is quite a bit of coral to remove - I would count on seeing a change. Test each morning, or whenever you normally do (the same time each day) to adjust your dosage. That is quite the measure of success - so sad you had to trash them! Wish I was in your neck of the woods : )

I have controlled dosing setup on apex so as long as it isn't a large change then it won't matter. I also wish you were around me I hate just throwing it away but I have to make room for nicer corals.

I think in the future you should "Prune" instead of taking huge chunks off. Just my opinion. But I would def expect to see a reduce in calcium uptake.

If you have a lot of coralline, I have found that it uses up the most of the needed carbonate and calcium. Just watch it over the next week or two.

I do have a lot of coralline so hopefully that one single coral wasn't much of my consumption. I will watch the trident and I'll get notifications if my alk/cal raise too much, I was just wanting opinions on whether I should expect a change.
